The center provides a variety of opportunities for financial support to help ensure our students can focus on their academic success. Financial assistance opportunities include:
Kayla Frausto participated in the leadership program and also with the outdoor education program. She had this to say: “I am from Nipomo, California, and I graduated from Nipomo High School in 2019. I am majoring in psychology and currently have my associates degree. I hope to continue my education and eventually get my master’s degree to work in child psychology or forensic psychology. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, shopping, hanging out with friends, and watching movies.”
Santiago Mencos is new to UW and Wyoming. He comes to us from New Orleans, Louisiana, and is originally from Honduras. He is a DACA student who participates in the conference. He is studying construction engineering and hopes to work construction management for a big construction company upon graduation. Santiago spends time fishing with friends and playing rugby
Wendy is Chicana-Indigenous (Purépecha/Tarascan) woman from Wheatland, Wyoming. She received a travel grant that assisted her transition from undergraduate to graduate school. This transitional grant helped her to get a head start on graduate applications and in campus interviews and finding a place to live. She interviewed at several schools and was accepted as a Ph.D. student at the University of Arizona, School of Geography, Development, and Environment. Her research interests lie in transboundary water governance between the Mexico-Guatemalan border and how it supports and/or hinders the constitutional guarantees to the human right to water and the right to food sovereignty.
Help support our efforts because every contribution helps.
